Abstract

In 2020, the murder of George Floyd shocked the nation, prompting an outcry and demand of reparations by the resurgence of the Black Lives Matter Movement through memory. The Tulsa Race Massacre was one of the many histories exposed and memorialized throughout the resurgence of the Black Lives Matter Movement. While exposing and memorializing the Tulsa Race Massacre, the Black Lives Matter Movement prompted the shift in memory and framing of the massacre from race riot to massacre to strengthen the demands for reparations and justice. This podcast, the Tomorrow Is A New Day podcast, intends to tell the story of the Tulsa Race Massacre to continue the memory of the Tulsa Race Massacre and to showcase the importance of the black activism of the present in promoting memory and disrupting narratives of the past.
