Abstract

In an increasingly digital world, understanding the components that make public health campaigns successful is paramount. This study aimed to determine the common components of successful public health campaigns produced in the United States and United Kingdom within the last ten years through a content analysis of the online presences of fifteen campaigns. It was found that highly diversified social media presences and an emphasis on visual content were the most prominent commonalities, while very few campaigns made use of television or print advertising. This study not only sheds light on evolving communication strategies but also emphasizes the importance of adapting to the digital landscape. Complementing these findings, a content handbook tailored to aid future campaign creators in aligning with these emerging trends was developed, contributing to the continued efficacy of public health initiatives.
